Our Pumpkin

It dawned on me that I never took a picture of Justin's finished work.
Can you say, "MEOW"?

Trunk or Treat

Charlotte's school hosted a "Trunk or Treat" tonight in the parking lot.

Everyone was suppose to decorate the trunk of their car and hand out treats. It was a larger event than I anticipated. Many (veterans) went all out with their decorations! Too bad I didn't get many pictures, but a few cars were decked out.

Daddy and Kitty Cat ready to go to the party

Our trunk! Not the best, but pretty good!
Plus we handed out Play Doh ~ yeah, mommy rocks!!

Pumpkin Carving

Our Sunday School class had a pumpkin carving picnic at the park on Saturday. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and learned some pumpkin carving skills!

Justin and I had gone with the intention of carving the typical Jack O' Lantern face. However, when we got there, friends busted out pumpkin carving books with 100's of templates. Wanting to not be lame, I quickly asked if we could use one of their templates for our pumpkin. We chose a cat. I started on the cat's eyes while Justin and Charlotte played on the play ground, but then Charlotte wanted Mommy, so Justin got to finish the whole thing. He did an awesome job!

Hard at work

Fall at the Arboretum

Earlier last week, we met friends at the Arboretum. Every year they host a large pumpkin patch with lots of other activities for the kids. Last year, Charlotte was too young to enjoy it. We just propped her against a pumpkin to get a good picture, but this year... she was all over the place.

fun with friends!

Charlotte: hmmmm.. I think I'd like a hug Spencer.
Charlotte: Come on Spencer - hug me
Spencer: No, No Charlotte
Charlotte: Well Ok, let's just play!

New Bed

So.... as many of you know, we've been having sleep issues at our house. It really began when Charlotte climbed out of her bed. I bought a toddler bed the next day. It finally came in and Charlotte and I put it together yesterday. She loves having it in her room! She wanted to slept in it last night and did well until 3 am and then woke up disoriented. So, I put the mattress back into her crib and she slept there until morning. For nap, she wanted to try out her new bed again, so I let her and made sure the door was shut well so that she couldn't get out of her room and onto the stairs. For almost an hour I heard her playing with different things and walking around. (Ok ~ I must admit that I was laying outside her door trying to peak from under the door)
Once it was all quiet, I opened her door to peek in and this is what I found!

Pumpkin Patch

We drove up to Richardson this morning to visit the Owens Spring Creek Farm Pumpkin Patch. It was a beautiful day filled with lots of fun. We enjoyed barrel rides, hay rides, and feeding the animals.

There are so many fun things to do in the Fall!!

State Fair of Texas

Last weekend, we went to the State Fair of Texas. It was a wonderful chilly morning! We enjoyed all the activities and fun food ~ fried guacamole and fried smores!!
There was a children's farm set up with faux animals and crops that they could feed and plant and then sell their produce to the market. It was very cute to watch Charlotte try to figure it all out.

We also ran into friends!!

The swings looked fun, but turned out to be not a good idea. Charlotte loved sitting in them, but once they got started going round and round, she started slipping and it made her nervous. I don't think that there was anyway she could have fallen out, but for precautions and to relieve Charlotte, they stopped early so she could get out.

Trying Out the Toddler Bed

Well.... I've heard of it happening, but didn't think it would happen to us.... especially this early.
Charlotte climbed out (or rather, was mad, climbed, and fell out and Daddy caught her) of her crib last week. It scared us pretty bad since we have hardwoods and was so afraid she could really hurt herself. So, the next morning when she was at school, I went to Pottery Barn and bought a toddler bed. Unfortunately, it takes a week to ship, so we're still waiting with large pillows lining the foot of her crib.
Justin thought that maybe since we are waiting for it to ship that I should take her by PB and see what she thinks of it.
As you can see, she loved it! I almost couldn't get her out of it. She found a blanket hanging on a crib close by and pulled it down and then laid in the bed and pulled the blanket on top of her. I sure hope that it's this easy once we get the bed in her room!!

Tiny Dancer

Not only is Tiny Dancer a wonderful song, and one of Daddy's favorites, we have our own Tiny Dancer now.
Charlotte and I began Mommy and Me dance class yesterday with friends. She had a blast! She really liked her teacher, Ms. Holly. She wanted to dance with her and hold her hand. I was very impressed by her focus and determination. She loved walking tip-toe, twirling, and rolling down the foam hill. She even attempted the crab-walk ~ that was a funny site!
Charlotte and I loved having our friends there! All the little girls were precious and even us mommys kept the beat!
